travelogue

Well, our big trip of the summer has come and gone. We had a great time, but I am glad to be home.

We left on Saturday, June 13 and flew to Chicago with Dan's sister, her husband, and two boys. We spent the following day exploring Chicago. What a fun city! A day is just not enough time. But we saw some fun things--Navy Pier, Millenium Park, Cloud Gate (the silver bean-shaped structure), Crown Fountain, and the Sears Tower.

The next day, Dan, Lincoln, and I were able to spend a couple of hours with my aunt and uncle who are serving as mission presidents in Chicago. It was great to see them! We then embarked on our 4.5 hour drive (which took 6 hours) to Nauvoo, where we met up with the rest of Dan's family, who had driven. His grandparents are serving a mission there and it was so fun to see them. We spent 4 days in Nauvoo. The highlights of Nauvoo, for me, were spending a few hours in the Nauvoo Temple doing some family temple work, and touring the Joseph Smith sites. I had been to Nauvoo once before when I was 10 and I have wanted to go back ever since. It was a little hard to fit everything in and still allow Lincoln to have his naps and get to bed on time, but I think we saw everything we wanted to and still had a happy little boy.

We drove back to Chicago on the 20th and caught our plane home that evening. Like I said, it was a great trip, but we're glad to be home!

I don't usually do slideshows, but didn't know how else to do so many pictures. Enjoy!
