Sometimes I forget how busy it gets around the holidays! We're lucky that we don't have to travel far to see our families, although a trip away once in a while would be nice! My brother, Aaron, and his wife and two kids were here from Washington for the week of Christmas. It's always a party at my dad's house for the time they are here since we don't get to see them very often so there wasn't much productivity at our house last week. We also had a party to attend for Dan's grandparents 50th wedding anniversary last week. As much as I love Christmas, I enjoy getting back into the routine of life again.
This year, I was kind of excited for Christmas to come and go because now we have started to shop for baby stuff! As most of you know, we found out on November 19 that we had been chosen by a birthmom as the adoptive parents for her baby. Since we had quite a bit of notice (the baby's not due until April 5) Dan told me we shouldn't start shopping until after Christmas. Of course, I've been doing plenty of looking online, but now I've started showing Dan stuff and we're starting to make some decisions. SO FUN! I never knew how hard it was going to be to decide on stuff like a crib and bedding, though. To be honest, the bedding is giving me the biggest challenge! I knew exactly what I wanted for a girl, but, as our luck would have it, it's a boy (which I am absolutely thrilled about ) so I've been getting lots and lots of ideas. I'm hoping we'll be able to decide on a theme soon! There's just so much to buy that it's a little overwhelming. I'm starting to be glad we've had as much time as we've had and we didn't have to get things together in a matter of days or weeks. But we sure will be glad when April (or the end of March) is here and we are able to bring our little boy home!
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and have a fun (and safe) New Year!
